Creative Learning Without Limits

Mrs Gascoyne would like to welcome you to the Penguin Class.

Welcome back Penguins. I hope you had a lovely Christmas break.

This half term we will be thinking about Winter. We will be investigating ice and animals that live in cold places around the world. We will investigate light sources and electricity. In addition we will also look at Space and the book ‘How to catch a star’ by Oliver Jeffers. We will also look at the celebrations and traditions around Chinese New Year.

We will continue to follow the White Rose Hub maths scheme

  • Counting accurately to 10 and beyond
  • Combining 2 groups to find the whole
  • Comparing numbers to 10
  • Number bonds using ten frame/part-whole
  • 3-D/2-D shapes

We will continue to learn our set 1 and set 2 sounds in Phonics. We will practise using our ‘Fred Fingers’ to write words using sounds we know. In addition we will be learning our tricky words and spotting them in books that we read.

This half term we will also be developing our new garden area. It will include a mud kitchen, vegetable beds, mini beast homes and a digging area. We have ordered our hedging plants so will be busy planting soon!

Every Tuesday we will be continuing with our Forest school in the meadow and woody area.

In addition to our daily outside time we will also be developing our physical skills through our BEAM sessions and PE sessions.

This term our focus children are encouraged to bring in items to share in their focus child boxes. We cannot wait to see what your interests and strengths are!

Don’t forget please check Twitter for up to date information about what we have been up to!
